(i)

she broke into a full sprint, skipping doors here and there along her way. why would she care? what were the chances of any of them even being the right door? she had to get away. it was after her again. she didnt belong here. she had to get out.

ahead of her was the largest door she had yet seen. she wasted no time in scrambling towards it and fumbling with the knob. slamming it open, she found her sister standing lifeless before her.


(ii)

hollow.

empty.

void.

nothing.

time stand still.


(iii)

the words wouldnt come to her. all she could do was cry. it started soft. before long there were more tears than she had ever felt before. she was too late.

she gathered the body and walked out the door.


(iv)

the hallway had changed when she turned back around. gone were the doors. shorter was its length. most of the candles had been snuffed. the walls turned cavernous as she shuffled, hunched over with the weight on her shoulders. she knew only one way left to-
