the follow up album to the fountain. in contrast to the haste presented on that album, this one takes things a little more slowly, giving everything more time to develop. still, it is ever more hard hitting and emotional, taking the new direction begun on its predecessor and seeing how far it can go before it breaks.

written and recorded from may to october of 2022, this album i feel represents less of my immediate state of mind and more of how things have changed. how they've evolved. as proud as i am of the fountain, i never felt truly satisfied with it. it felt like the beginning of something rather than a full statement in and of itself.

heartless here is the continuation and, most likely, the conclusion of that statement. some part of me does still feel as if i have more to say in this regard, i'm not 100% certain this is the end of this particular line of thought. but as opposed to the fountain which ended on a somewhat longing note, lacking any proper resolution, the ending of this album feels final. complete. finished.
