this is my 2016 synthwave EP dystopia, remastered for the current year.

since moving out of my old apartment (along with some other major life changes) i feel i've made a drastic improvement in sound quality in my work. i've been neglecting to add some of my older material to streaming because of this; none of it really felt up to par. this extends as far forwards as 2018's horizons, to be perfectly honest, but because horizons and the rites of dawn are already submitted to distrokid, i don't particularly feel like messing with them anymore.

so instead, i'm working on a reissue campaign for my back catalog. the first stage of this campaign is remastering dystopia. i don't particularly feel interested enough to put in the effort required to properly mix it (the files in the old mastering project are all named "rough mix" aside from the title track; this EP was literally written, recorded, and mixed in a single week), and the mix itself isn't too particularly awful. so instead i've gone back in and remastered it.

the artwork is also entirely new. because of unfortunate circumstances, i do not have the original artwork anymore (at least not the original files). i can access the artwork as uploaded on bandcamp, but some time since 2016 bandcamp changed their artwork requirements and the 1200x1200 version available on the site isn't allowed anymore. considering the original artwork was also very hasty, i've taken it upon myself to just give it some new artwork.

the next stage of the campaign will be a little more involved than a simple fresh coat of paint on top of an old release. stay tuned to find out.
