about

so, way back before providence, in the fall of 2018, i attempted to write another album as a follow up to horizons. my goal was to write a 51 minute piece that much more closely emulated the sound of mike oldfield but mixed with tony banks. ultimately this album got scrapped following a mistake that resulted in the opening half of part one's final proper recording being wiped from my hard drive, erasing all of the work i'd spent on tracking up to that point.

this mistake caused me to put the album on the shelf for a while as i focused on what at the time felt much more enjoyable to work on (which resulted in the first two robintronics albums), which would eventually lead to me deciding none of the material actually worked out that well. it was too derivative of horizons and the artists it was attempting to sound like, and it didn't end up really being a direction i wanted to go in.

after some careful deliberation a year later, i've decided to go ahead and put up the demos. they don't sound particularly good and nothing has been done to them in literally well over a year, but in case anybody is interested in the direction i *could* have gone in, here's a glimpse. fittingly enough, the cover art is one of many photos taken from the sessions in asheville that produced the artwork for horizons.
