Prelude (Castlevania III)[3DS Mix]

about

Unlike the other bonus track, this one's a bit more recent. I did this one a few months ago as a way to test out Korg's DSN-12. The DSN-12 is an app for your 3DS, I forget the price but it's basically a syntheziser/sequencer workstation comprised of no less than 12 Korg MS-10s emulated very closely to the original. Since the MS-10 is a monophonic synthesizer, this gets you 12 voices of polyphony, which is enough for some crazy complex stuff. You also get an awesome sequencer with a total of 64 patterns across 4 banks (16 per bank), with each pattern being capable of up to 64 steps. This track wasn't too particularly complex, but I'm still learning the thing, so cut me some slack. It's not exactly the most powerful tool, or the most intuitive tool, but the MS-10 can come up with some incredibly interesting sounds, and having essentially 12 of them at your disposal is just amazingly fun. I'd like to do a lot more stuff in the future with it, specifically I'd like to compose an entire album on it.

As for the track, it's one of my favorite tracks from my favorite Castlevania game, and said game has one of my all time favorite soundtracks. Why does it get delegated to a bonus track though? Why is there nothing from this game on the actual EP? Because I've got plans in the works. Nothing soon, gonna be a while, but eventually I'd like to put out an album based on Castlevania III. Maybe for next Halloween?
